One of my favourite things about being a London Headshot Photographer is the amount of different actors from all walks of life that come to the studio for a new set of acting headshots.
Acting can be an amazing career that has no barriers to entry, you can train as an actor and go to drama school / take drama courses but at the same time you can put your headshots on a casting website and start a career with no previous experience. I’m very privileged to have worked with actors who have started their careers from lots of different points in their lives.
Jagdeep Giri started acting later on in her life and has had actor headshots before, however her hair has grown to a longer length that she now keeps it at and so needed some new headshots that gave her a more up to date portfolio. Throughout the session we worked with Monika Swiatek who is an amazing makeup artist and hair stylist, we started by having a chat with Jagdeep about the types of castings that she wants to go for and the style of makeup and hair that she wanted.
From here Monika started to work, we went for a very natural look make up wise so and kept the hair styling simple as we decided that as the headshot session went on we could change the hair style to be more relaxed and slightly curled. A Makeup and Hair stylist can be really beneficial on a headshot session if you want to remove any stress of having to do your own make up and hair styling, not only do you have a professional tailoring the styling to you and the roles that you want to play but they are also there throughout the entire session making sure that everything continues to look as good as it did at the very start of the session!
I'll make sure that you'll always be able to have a relaxed, fun time in your Headshot Session, you'll never be rushed and I take time to get to know you as an person and what you want from the session!

Fay Cairnduff is a Musical Theatre student currently at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona and came to the studio for her first set of professional actor headshots. Fay was awesome to work with, she is very confident and so was able to be comfortable in front of camera very quickly which meant that we could take a very large variety of shots that really showcased different characters and emotions.
We started the session by talking through the castings that Fay was looking to go for after she graduated and then about how I run actor headshot sessions, next up was posing and the different techniques that I use throughout the session. I always find it useful to start every acting headshot session by going through the entire process as it can alleviate some of the nervousness that most people have about sitting in front of a camera. It is an awkward experience for the first few moments in front of a camera and so knowing what I’m doing and why can help, after all it is my job as a professional headshot photographer to make sure that you are comfortable, get the best headshots possible and also have a great time doing so!
I believe in giving you a large variety of looks when you have a headshot session with me. My goal is to give you a selection of shots that show your range as an actor and most importantly get you seen! Take a look at some more of my work with lots of other actors!
Nilgun Direncay has started studying acting recently at Rose Bruford College and needed to get her first set of acting headshots which she came to the studio for. We went through the castings that she wants to go for and the process of the headshot session, we then had a look at the clothing options that she had brought with her and I started to select different backdrops and lighting setups that would help showcase different characters and emotions.
I really believe in tailoring the each actor headshot session to each individual client and the type of roles that they want to go for in the future so that they have the best possible headshots. By using a variety of backdrops / lighting setups along with different clothing options we can really start to give a sense of different characters. I always want to give every actor a varied portfolio of headshots so that they can use them for a long time even if their switch the genre of characters that they normally perform as.
Testimonials are a great way of seeing what a session will be like as you can read about my previous clients experiences!

For me, the thought of posing for headshots was one of dread as I hate smiling for cameras but David made it such a relaxed, easy, friendly and enjoyable experience that resulted in some great shots. I highly recommend him!Victoria Whittaker
